Santa Barbara Watercolor Workshop

Learn to create paintings rich in dramatic color, light and shadow.  An invigorating lesson on ridding yourself of an artistic slump – “ slump blasting techniques” will add to the fun of this splashing watercolor workshop.  Drip, Drool and Splash techniques will be explored and the simple painless way to add the figure to your paintings will be achieved.   As will be demonstrated, you will increase interest and sophistication to your work by the addition of rich reflected color.

 A sample palette of 8 luscious Richeson watercolors will be included. Information on photographing a still life for a projected painting and digital reference will be discussed.  Each student will receive a private critique with instructor Cathy Quiel based on 5-8 pieces of the student’s past work. (Optional)
